Duties: Successful Resolution Health Support Worker will assist with the coordination of the following services for eligible claimants: Ensure that eligible former IRS students, and their family member(s) have access to an appropriate level of mental wellness support services; and Ensure that eligible former IRS students can safely address a broad spectrum of mental wellness issues related to the disclosure of childhood abuse(s). Build relationships with all Settlement Agreement stakeholders to raise awareness of available serves to Former IRS Students under the IRS Resolution Health Support Program, Indian Residential Schools Resolution Canada and the Adjudication Secretariat. When possible, ensure that Former IRS Students receive counseling support services by referring them to the appropriate Health Canada IRS RHSP Regional Coordinator for a determination of their eligibility for professional counseling services. Provide and take part in cultural programs and services being offered through ANHN and the community.
The Indian Residential Schools (IRS) Resolution Health Support Program provides emotional health and wellness support to former IRS students and their families, regardless of status and place of residence.
Claimants often experience various emotional reactions when disclosing abuses suffered while attending Indian Residential Schools. This has led the Government of Canada to develop the IRS Resolution Health Support Program to meet the emotional health and wellness needs of former IRS students and their families. These services are available before, during and after the resolution process.
