National HIV Testing Day in SK! A Media Event

All Nations Hope Network

The Saskatchewan Indigenous Strategy on HIV and AIDS is collaborating with the HIV Coordinators of the SK Provincial HIV Strategy to deliver National HIV Testing Day in SK on June 27, 2017.

The intention of this day is to remind everyone to #KnowYourStatus and #SayYestotheTest to support HIV prevention and treatment in SK - urbanly, rurally, remotely, and on-reserve!  Find a place to access a confidential HIV test near you here. Learn more about what is happening in your region on National HIV Testing Day in SK here.

All Nations Hope Network will be hosting Honourable Minister of Health, Jim Reiter, for a public HIV test on June 27th around noon. A Health Canada nurse will conduct the tests at All Nations Hope Network and other leaders from Regina Police Services, City of Regina, Cowessess First Nation, and the NDP are anticipated guests, too! For information about what might be happening in your community or region please visit www.skhiv.ca

SISHA promotes 'Say Yes to the Test' and 'Know Your Status' because 'HIV is Different Now'!

Know Your Risk...

  • The only way to know your HIV status is to get tested.
  • HIV treatment, today, is excellent and consists of one-pill-a-day
  • Undetectable = Untransmittable: When medications are taken correctly (daily), people with HIV can reach an 'undetectable' viral load, which means the HIV cannot be found in their blood and therefore cannot be transmitted.
  • The biggest risk factor is believing you're not at risk - if you have a body, you can get HIV.
